Ármin Lesták represented MATE and Hungary at the FISU World University Championships Cross Country
Tough conditions and quality field came together in Muscat, Oman at the championships. Ármin as the only runner from Hungary had a hard job out there
This year the FISU World University Championships for Cross Country took part in Muscat, Oman where our first year student Ármin Lesták represented MATE and Hungary. The venue was ideal but the tough weather conditions and the quality field didn’t make Ármin’s job easy at the competition.
About 40 runners came together for the 3000 meter race in the 30 degree heat. The start was great for Ármin, he completed the first km in at the front of the field. The race started ont he second half, after a few surges of the talented runnres made the field broken apart and Ármin stayed at his own pace. At the end he finished 22nd and reached the best result possible.
Considering that he is a first year and there were much more talented and experienced runners we are so proud of this result. Also it has to be mentioned that MATE was the only university to delegate a runner for the championships.
Huge congrats to Ármin and we wish other great results for the rest of the season!
